The HAFA program started on April 5th 2010. This progam is overseen by the U.S. Treasury. It started because statistics show that 60% to 70% of modified mortgage redefault on their home loans. This new program is supposed to create uniformity in short sales. It is also supposed to speed up the short sale process. This program is for primary residences and loan amounts below $729,750.0.
